Paul Ditch - A man of many hats! The realisation of how vitally important PR & Marketing is to the world has propelled Paul through many different aspects of his business and personal life. Non more so than the use of PR & Social Media in the Retail Industry.
Having UK size 14 feet, Paul found himself being part of billions of consumers that start their shopping experince by searching what celebs are wearing, followed by checking Twitter & Facebook for deals local shops may have, local sales and stock sizes...
The most interesting discovery was that all the 'Big Boys' of the footwear industry regularly updated their social media accounts, and yet many of the independant retailers didn't even have accounts.... How could this be? Not enough time? not enough money? DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA? It was this revolation, with a number of Retailers, Agents and Brands approaching Paul to help explain how to use these vices, he realised 'There's something in this'.
Paul Ditch exploded into the world on bonfire night in 1988 in the Yorkshire town of Harrogate where he spent the first 18 years of his life developing a passion for performance and the world of theatre.
He was schooled at Harrogate Grammar School, becoming (what he beleives to be) a valued and outspoken member of the school's community. Paul's hardwork and helpful nature earned him the appointment of Deputy Head boy, where he continued to do what he could to create a happy enviroment for his peers, and more importantly, mentoring the younger students starting their journey through the school. As a testament to this, in 2009, Paul was awarded the 'Outstanding contribution to school life' award at a ceremony held at the Harrogate Conference Centre.
In 2007, Paul chose to move to Aberystwyth to study at the UWA, obtaining his degree in Drama, Performance and Theatre Management. This lead to a further 4 years living in the little Welsh town, working in a local legal firm & performing many shows inc. several appearances in 'Wales' best pantomine', Calendar Girls and She Stoops to Concur (but to name a few). Paul's Passion for Theatre manifested itself when he established and developed his own Theatre Company, running EVERY aspect of the company (Inc. PR & Marketing), comissioning new works and grasping at the opportunity to direct a production of Macbeth for the Royal Shakespeare Company in their open air theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Paul has worked in many areas of promo, PR and marketing. These range from nightclub promo work to large scale 'high end' motor vehicle marketing & research - companies such as Ferrari, Bentley and Rolls Royce. However, his personal biggest test was the promoting of his own business. This is where he discovered his passion for the use of social media as a force of marketing.
Forever surrounding himself with people in the fashion industry, celebrities and footwear industry professionals, Paul soon found himself putting all his passions into creating marketing campaigns for these individuals - and thus, Mardi Gras PR was born.
